Time to make the donuts...or cake!

I have taken on the task of making my daughter’s birthday cake this year. With spending cut back this year, it’s cheaper to just bake the cake then it is to buy it from a bakery (or store for that matter) With help from a good friend I should have too much trouble but it will be an interesting task. Don’t get me wrong, I love to bake and cook however I have never made a “fancy” cake for an actually birthday party. Sure I’ve made cupcakes for school parties and cake for work but for some reason making a cake for my daughter’s birthday party is nerve-racking. Partly because birthday parties have become keeping up with the Jones events, however I’m hoping to steer clear from that this year.

I’ll post pictures when I’m done as well as my recipe for butter cream icing for Michelle. Feel free to lie to me when you see the finished result!
